# eth_getBalance

> Call eth_getBalance on Goldsky Edge RPC to return the wei balance of any EVM address at a specific block or tag, with curl, JavaScript, and Python examples.

## Parameters

<ParamField body="address" type="string" required>
  Address to check balance (20 bytes)
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="blockNumber" type="string" required>
  Block number (hex), or `latest`, `earliest`, `pending`, `safe`, `finalized`
</ParamField>

## Returns

<ParamField body="balance" type="string">
  Current balance in wei (hex encoded)
</ParamField>
